Buying local is the preference to buy locally produced products instead of those produced farther away. Nowadays, in our society, there is a debate about whether buying local products is profitable or not.
On the one hand, buying local is a way to support the economy of your village or town, making it increase as well as job positions. Furthermore, local products are usually grown or produced in a natural way without using chemicals or pesticides. Besides, it is closer to home and you can go shopping without driving, and you do not have to wait for it to arrive as in online shopping.
On the other hand, you may not find what you want because in local businesses the variety and the amount of products is not the same as in department stores, for instance.
As a conclusion, buying local is profitable because you help the economy of your town, but at the same time it is not the same than going to a shopping centre or a supermarket where you can choose whatever you desire.
